I'm a self-taught front end developer with an art school education, I've worked with small businesses and multinational corporations. My strength lies in my ability to speak the language of clients and creatives and deliver modern front end code that implements great ideas. I believe in the power of a well crafted front end, and I'm always looking for opportunity to implement the latest standards and techniques. I'm looking to join a team where I can work with talented developers and designers to create elegant, innovative interfaces.
While at Stella & Dot I've my primary task has been taking their legacy consumer facing frontend and making it responsive. I've overhauled large portions of their consumer site from scratch, bringing in new techniques and technologies while improving performance. I've also worked closely with our design and marketing teams to provide a better sense of what is technically possible and to create tools to allow for easier content creation. I've worked with product on brainstorming new features, trained interns, helped with hiring and even had a chance to work on the architecture of new platforms.
While at Discovery I lead the effort to completely rebuild discovery news. I was able to collaborate on the site from the wireframe stage onwards, rebuilding the frontend from scratch and working with our backend team to build new middleware and enhance our CMS and API to support the project. Since relaunching the site pageviews have increased by 50%, to nearly a million hits a day. I also worked on other discovery sites, rebuilding the Animal Planet homepage and several high traffic areas of HowStuffWorks.
As technical lead for Olive I advised the Creative Director on possible implementations and carried out all Html and Flash development.
As head of my own freelance Web Design and Photography business, I handled everything from coding to client relations.
